Demolition contractors San Diego have two ways to demolish buildings and structures – non-explosive and explosive.
As per the non-explosive method, the demolition of a building doesn’t need explosives to be used. There are specialized tools to demolish different structures which are -
Sledge hammer
If they have to demolish a small structure like a wall or a column they use sledge hammers to break them.
Excavators
These are the bulldozers used to demolish not so large buildings and to transfer and clear the fallen debris out of the construction site.
Wrecking Balls
Tall 6 to 7 storey buildings are broken by the help of a crane attached with wrecking balls. The ball is made up of steel which is pulled and released towards the structure to be demolished. As far as this method is concerned, Expert demolition contractors would not prefer this as the speed and movement of the steel ball can’t be handled properly.
High Reach Excavators
The high reach bulldozers are used to demolish very tall buildings that can’t be dismantled by explosives. The excavators can be used different depending upon the tool attached to it such as sheer attachments and hydraulic hammers.
Explosive method of Demolition
Non-explosive method of demolition involves use of explosives. The main supports of the buildings are attached with explosives to blow up the entire structure. The main supports of the building can be beams, slabs and columns. Based on the structure has fallen, there are two types of implosion which are falling like a tree and falling into its own footprint.
· In falling like a tree, the building falls sideward when free space is available. The cables made up of steel are attached to the building to control the momentum of the fall. Explosives are fixed on the lower side of the building to make it fall on that side like a tree.
· In case of falling into its own footprint, the explosives are attached to the middle to demolish it at once. This takes place when no free space is available to demolish. This requires heavy explosives which is why less demolition contractors San Diego take it up.
